The most dangerous intersections in Raleigh, NC

Most people worry about car accidents when they are on the freeway. However, you face just as much of a risk of a car crash when you travel through a standard intersection anywhere throughout North Carolina.

Raleigh, as one of the largest cities in the state, is particularly prone to these types of collisions. Certain intersections can become incredibly busy, especially during rush hour. You need to be aware of the most dangerous intersections in this city, according to data collected in 2015.

Poole and New Hope Roads

Located in southeast Raleigh, the intersection of South New Hope Road and Poole Road is particularly dangerous during certain times of the day. It is right down the street from a Raleigh fire station, so you need to be cautious of when a fire truck will come through. There are also several gas stations at this intersection. Be wary of people trying to enter and exit these gas stations. You do not want to put your guard down when traversing this area.

Hammond Road and Tyron Road

Also located in south Raleigh, the intersection of Tyron Road and Hammond Road has been the scene of many collisions over the years. At first glance, the intersection may not seem very dangerous. There is nothing on the corners, but it is a rather wide intersection. The traffic lights can be difficult to see, and accidentally running a red light is a common reason for traffic collisions.

Davie and Wilmington Streets

Downtown Raleigh is a busy place to be on a Friday or Saturday night. One of the most dangerous intersections downtown is where South Wilmington Street and East Davie Street meet. A lot of people travel slowly downtown because they need to find a restaurant or store they need to go to. You need to constantly watch for other cars, or else you could end up in a crash.
